Board Room Essay

Stephen Ruiz                           Boardroom Essay

Hello fellow boardroom members, my name is Stephen Ruiz and I am representing my company “Tootsie and Things.” Now as you know from a previous seeing of my company’s commercial, my product is the “TRP”, also known as the Tootsie Roll Pen.” My associates and I have been discussing when our commercial should be aired on the television. We believe it should be aired after the 4:00’ o’clock news. We think this because, when kids come home from school some of them go flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch and most likely procrastinate. Now if that child were to pause on the channel that the commercial was being aired on, they would say to they’re parents when they get home , “Hey mom”, or “Hey dad, can we get the Tootsie Roll Pen?!” Another reason is because the funky music will catch they’re eye and they might stay on that channel, which could potentially boost the sales of this product. And to conclude my reasoning kids may just need “something cooler to write with”, as stated in the commercial. 25% out of 100% of kids watch television and do other activities instead of doing homework right away. 5% of kids play with pets and other animals. 40% of kids go on the internet and chat with their friends on sites like, Face Pad and Nype. And the last 30% engage in playing outside. If my product can go on the television then I could spread nationwide! Now I would also like to bring up how the choice of music would catch the listeners ears. The funky sounds will make the listener watch the commercial because you have your typical party sounds such as; whistles and horns. The funky fast danceable music will guarantee the listener tons of tasty fun. Last but certainly not least some kids just need something cooler to write with. Now with my product you may be afraid that your child might get sick from eating it but you don’t have to worry because it’s non-toxic. As for the Bubble Gum Pencil  your child will not have enough natural flavor and too much artificial flavor. And also with Music Pens  you are afraid that your child will get electrocuted. I got Music Pens for my daughter and guess what,? She got electrocuted. I also tried the Bubble Gum Pencil for my son and he got food poisoning and he got it taken away from him at school. So why pay $14.99 for the Music Pens when your child could be at risk! In conclusion, to keep you thinking twice about purchasing these products, think about your budget and your child’s life. You won’t be disappointed with my product.

Extras/ other counter arguments:

·        Who wants blue urine and constipation?

·        You can’t listen to music in school.

·        With my air tight packaging my product is guaranteed to stay fresh.

·        With Music Pens you have a risk of getting electrocuted.

·        With Bubble Gum Pencils you have a risk of getting food poisoning.

Reflecting on my Commercial...

When I was creating my commercial I had some difficulties with my camcorder with the brightness of my screen. My mom helped pick out the song "Let me see that Tootsie Roll." I must have done at least 34,000 takes before i got the right one without messing up! I had to close the door so that we didn't have to here my dog scratching in his cage. Overall I had a great time doing my commercial with the help of my Mom.

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

Some holiday traditions that run in my family are gathering around the table and saying grace at my grandpa's house. We also like to recognize the ones who helped us in the past. Another emotional part in our traditions are recognizing the ones who are no longer with us. Some traditions on Turkey Day (Thanksgiving) are making a huge turkey. Some other mouth watering foods are moist stuffing, dry stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, string beans, and cranberry sauce.

In conclusion, these are some traditions that run in my family on this upcoming non-religious holiday, Thanksgiving.

Personal Narrative: A WALK WITH MY GRANDMA

It was a beautiful day for a walk. My grandma and I decided to go for what I thought was a normal walk around town. Our usual route was throughout the neighborhood. I was a bit in pain but i had a lot of strength. "So grandma", I asked. "Are we going to go for a longer time or a shorter time?''

"Today we're going for a really long time",she replied. "Whats that supposed to mean?" "Well I wanted to see Jonelle's grave stone." "Wait one second, that doesn't mean we have to walk from here to-", and before I could finish she said .... '' Perth Amboy'' ''Grandma you do realize we have to walk through 3 1/2 towns to get to Perth Amboy, right?"

"Yes, yes I do." Well can't you just call your friend Jackie or Aunt Ada?", I asked in a concerned voice. " I don't really want to bother anyone , so no". "Awww come on." As we walked  through the front door, we felt the sun glaring down on our backs. As we began walking we felt the icey cool rush of cars flying by.

We heard the sounds of birds chirping, bee's buzzing and cars rushing by. "Hey grandma are we there yet ?", I repeated over and over again. "No",she answered. As we pulled into the Race Way, I asked grandma for the money we brought with us  so I could fill up my bike tires. "Ok", she replied. "Do you need help?" "Yes", I said being tired on the inside but full of energy on the outside.

When I strolled into the mini-store, it smelled of small sweets and salty snacks. Cheeto's, Dorito's and other goods, boy I became so hungry, so tempted to get something , but I had to stay focused. I quickly got a snack, a drink, and a stick of gum.

At last our journey began again. As we came closer to the rail road tracks, I told my grandma we had to go straight, but she wouldn't listen.

So she decided to take the long way. It was going to be a long time, so I knew we had to take breaks in between. As we went over a bridge, we saw a plat that attracted lots of bee's, so I knew we had to be careful. "Hey grandma, you want to turn around?, you look pretty tired," I asked.

"We can't stop now!", she yelled from a distance

"Grandma, why are you smiling?"

She looked at me and laughed.

"Look", she said while laughing, "Look straight ahead", and so I looked, and to my surprise, ahead of us was home. It turned out that after our endlessly seeming walk, all we had done was walk in a big circle, I smiled, grabbed her hand and hugged her close.

"Grandma,"I said,"lets go eat."

Patriots Pen Essay

Are you proud of your country?  When you hear the word soldier, what do you think about?  When I hear the word soldier, I think of how he or she is risking their life every day for our freedom.  I also think of proud, respected men and women who serve our country.  The most important thing to me is my grandfather who is a Vietnam Veteran.  I am very proud of him for serving our country.  He also earned a Purple Heart.

When I hear the word sacrifice, I think of bullets flying, bombs going off and many people dying.  Everyone should be very proud of the men and women who are on the battlefield every day.  It is scary to think about the real world of fighting once basic combat training is completed.  It is a whole other world of reality.  Our soldiers sacrifice their lives to protect our country.  I don't think enough credit is given to them.  I think we should honor our soldiers even more than we do already.

Each of our 50 states are beautiful in their own way.  I would love to visit each on in my lifetime.  If I were the President of the United States, I would make sure our economy got back on the right track.  I would try to make more jobs for people and get the unemployment rate down.

There are many reasons I am proud of my country. One of them being able to live in a safe environment.  Another one is living a free life.  Lastly, I know I can be independent.  This is the best country in my opinion.

In conclusion, I love my country and cherish it deeply.  I hope that as time goes on, things will only get better.  This can be accomplished by everyone doing their part.  It wouldn't take too much to make this country the best it could be.
